BRIDGING EDUCATION AND EMPLOYABILITY

In a rapidly evolving global economy, education is no longer just about acquiring certificates. It is about acquiring competencies. Across Nigeria and other developing schools, apprenticeship centers and policy institutions. They are all rethinking what it truly means to be educated.

From a theoretical aspect.
One of the biggest challenges facing Nigeria graduates today is employability.
According to the national bureau of statistics (2024), over 40% of university graduates are unemployed/underemployed. Experts trace this issue back to a disconnect between what students are taught and what employers actually need.

“Graduates are technically educated but many are practically unprepared,” says Chineye Ogbonna, an industrial training consultant based in Lagos. “They have degrees but not always the skills required in modern work places”
This is why apprenticeship and entrepreneurial education are gaining momentum nationwide-exactly the areas IEAMA champion
