The absence of a structured professional body dedicated to managing apprenticeship systems while simultaneously advancing entrepreneurship development under a unified, credible, and future-ready framework.
For decades, apprenticeship and entrepreneurship have served as powerful yet largely informal engines of economic growth across Nigeria and Africa. They have created industries, empowered millions, and sustained families and communities. However, without standardized systems, structured certification, and institutional governance, their full potential remains under-optimized.
IEAMA exists to institutionalize, standardize, and professionalize these systems—transforming apprenticeship and entrepreneurship into globally aligned pathways for enterprise creation, workforce development, and sustainable wealth generation.
At IEAMA, we are committed to building a new generation of innovation-driven entrepreneurs, startup founders, certified professionals, and industry-leading apprentices equipped with:
• Technical competence
• Managerial expertise
• Ethical discipline
• Financial intelligence
• Digital adaptability
• Global competitiveness
Through accredited programs, certification pathways, sector-based curricula, research-backed frameworks, and Continuous Professional Development (CPD), IEAMA empowers members to:
• Launch and scale sustainable enterprises
• Strengthen and formalize existing businesses
• Develop new industries and market-driven solutions
• Transition from skilled practitioners to certified professionals, mentors, and enterprise leaders
IEAMA fosters a dynamic learning ecosystem where practitioners evolve into educators, industry experts contribute to curriculum development, and experiential learning is combined with real-sector collaboration. This ensures that training remains practical, relevant, innovation-driven, and aligned with evolving economic realities.
Positioned at the strategic intersection of entrepreneurship, apprenticeship management, professional certification, research, and policy advocacy, IEAMA actively shapes the future of enterprise development in Nigeria and across Africa. Through structured mentorship programs, institutional partnerships, and industry collaborations, the Institute is redefining how entrepreneurial talent is discovered, nurtured, certified, and sustained.
Our mandate is clear:
To elevate apprenticeship from an informal practice to a recognized professional pathway—and to position entrepreneurship not as a gamble, but as a disciplined, ethical, structured, and globally competitive vocation.
IEAMA is not merely an institution.
It is a transformational platform for economic empowerment, professional excellence, startup leadership, and sustainable enterprise growth.
IAS is mentorship training that follows a disciplined business model for apprentices (Nwa boi), supervised by qualified business owners (Oga, or master traders). The trade covers, management, finance, customer care, and other skills necessary for running a business. The apprentice is “settled” (provided with funds) to start his own business, which empowers him to continue the entrepreneurial cycle.
Training Apprentices work directly with a seasoned businessperson.
After training, the head trader funds the apprentice’s account.
Many apprenticeships are based on the trust that family and community members provide.

The Institute of Entrepreneurship and Apprenticeship Management and Administration (IEAMA) can work alongside the Igbo Apprenticeship System (IAS) to elevate educational standards and knowledge in several ways:
IEAMA will create formal certification programs for apprentices who successfully complete their training under the IAS, providing them with recognized qualifications that boost their employability and credibility.
The institute will also certify master traders (Ogas) as accredited trainers, ensuring their mentorship is acknowledged within a structured educational framework.
IEAMA will merge formal education with traditional apprenticeship, incorporating business management, financial literacy, digital marketing, and contemporary entrepreneurship practices into the IAS framework.
Short courses on customer relations, bookkeeping, and legal business compliance will be introduced to enhance apprentices' skill sets.
Many apprentices lack formal financial education; IEAMA will offer workshops on business strategy, financial management, and investment principles to empower them in sustaining and growing their businesses.
Training on how to access loans, grants, and government funding will also be advantageous for entrepreneurial advancement.
IEAMA aims to equip apprentices with essential digital skills, including e-commerce, digital marketing, and online payment solutions, enabling them to thrive in today’s economy.
By facilitating access to technology-driven business solutions, traditional businesses can operate more efficiently.
Many small businesses within the IAS function informally; IEAMA will educate apprentices on business registration, taxation, intellectual property, and labor laws to ensure compliance and avoid penalties.
IEAMA will conduct research to assess the impact and effectiveness of the Igbo Apprenticeship System, utilizing data to refine training models and attract stakeholders. This research can also inform policy development to better support apprentices and business owners.
The institute will organize networking events, mentorship programs, and business expos to connect apprentices with successful entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts.
Apprentices will have the opportunity to participate in business incubation programs that offer funding, workspace, and expert guidance.
IEAMA will partner with international educational and business institutions to integrate global best practices into the Igbo Apprenticeship System.
Exchange programs and study visits will expose apprentices to innovative business models and practices.
